National Education Team × History Society: Guided Visit to Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence

The National Education Team and History Society jointly organized a guided visit to the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence to view the exhibition, ‘Standing Together for Peacebuilding: Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the War of Resistance in Guangdong and Hong Kong’. This visit offered students an immersive history lesson on the pivotal events of the resistance in Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Students explored exhibits detailing the heroic efforts of the East River Column and Hong Kong-Kowloon Independent Brigade. Through historical artifacts and oral histories, they learned about the close cooperation between the people of Hong Kong and the mainland during the war. This experience was pivotal in cultivating a “Holistic View of National Security,” emphasizing the shared history of Hong Kong and the motherland. By walking through these historical narratives, students developed a stronger sense of national belonging and patriotism, understanding that the peace and stability of today are built upon the resilience and unity of past generations.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence for organizing this insightful exhibition and providing a valuable learning platform for our students.
